At 25, I finally decided to take the GIANT leap of faith and purchase the ever popular, all- knowing, Apple-made iPhone. I figured, surely this is easier than it looks. My 6-year-old cousin can download movies, take pictures and probably send an email on her mother’s iPhone, so why can’t I?
So I walk into the AT&T store and meet Christina who gladly pulls up my account and promptly walks to the back to retrieve my new, 8GB iPhone. I wait anxiously at the register thinking how excited I am to use the iPhone’s WAY-better-than-the-Blackberry Facebook application. She comes back with the fancy black box, car charger and announces that I get a cover for free.
Now that the phone is dressed (outside cover and screen protector), Christina asks me if I have any questions. I say, “Not right now, but if I have any I’m sure I can look in my user manual.” She laughs and says, “Honey you are on your own, this device doesn’t come with one.” GREAT!
I leave the store a little nervous but ready to face my new adventure. So I’ve had the phone now for almost a week and I love it, especially the click sound it makes while locking/unlocking. Life is good, and so far I’ve learned four things as an iPhone owner:
- Whoever invented auto correction is a god.
- The only app worth buying is Tetris.
- “Whatchamacallit” is a real word and
- “Sliding to unlock” really can make your day.

Congratulations on your purchase! I assume you’ve already downloaded all the great FREE social networking apps; Facebook, MySpace, Tweetdeck, etc.
As you use the iPhone more and more you will find yourself using it more as an extension of “you” and your computing needs.
Besides the major apps that it comes with, you will the discover the APPS to be the most biggest differentiator between the iPhone and other devices.
Enjoy!
Way to go, Lacey! I will need to take a look at your new toy when I see you again. The iPhone serves as my handy e-mail connection wherever I go. I can even work remotely because the iPhone can open Office files, and that is a big thing!
Hope you’re having fun with it!
