I’m a news junkie. Even as a kid, I couldn’t wait to read the paper every day. For you whippersnappers out there, we used to get this thing called a “newspaper” delivered to our home every day. It was AMAZING!
Now news is available at the touch of a finger – whatever you want to know, whenever you want to know it. To borrow a line from a Brad Paisley song (I like country music! So sue me!), “Now I’ve got it on my phone.”
Indeed, these days I get a lot of my news right from my iPhone. Organized in my “news” folder are apps for some of my favorite news sites. One of the cool new features available with the iOS 4 software update is the ability to organize apps into folders.
How’s the market looking today? Well hello, Bloomberg. International news? Thank you very much BBC! National news? Got all my bases covered – right and left – with FOX News and The News York Times. And how about a little comic relief? Huffington Post Comedy, c’mon down!!! (I’m sorry, but put a dog or a cat in a video and I’ll watch it 17 times.)
I do still read the “paper” every day, but now it’s usually from my phone or laptop, and it’s from multiple sources. The delivery has evolved, so I’ve evolved how I score my fix. But my craving is still the same.

There are still a lot of community papers who don’t have I-phone apps or even websites. These communities count our their local papers to provide news and content that addresses local government, schools and businesses. And the local businesses count on the community paper to drive consumers to their doors so that they can keep the doors open.
Yes, the newspaper business is evolving but there is still a need for the printed product.
Man, I’m totally jazzed the shuttle ultimately took off. However, I admit I’m disappointed because the shuttle program is finishing up. The new stuff just doesn’t look as thrilling as the shuttle program.
