Girls Night Out at Vela at Paloma Blanca has become a philanthropic and social mainstay for the wine bar.
I recently received a letter from the American Heart Association thanking me for a donation I made at this year’s Go Red for Women luncheon. The letter went on to explain how my contribution and the many others are helping fund healthy heart programs for local women.
What struck me as I read this letter is the charitable nature of San Antonians. I have lived here for about 11 years and have been fortunate enough to see the people of this community open up their hearts for their neighbors in need time and time again. And there are so many ways to give.
I get the pleasure of seeing that charitable side of San Antonians as part of my job because we help coordinate the fun and fashionable Girls Night Out events that our client, Vela at Paloma Blanca, hosts twice a month on Wednesday evenings. Vela partners with local boutiques and spas to showcase the latest in fashion, jewelry, accessories and beauty while offering drink and appetizer specials. Each Girls Night Out event is dedicated to a local charity so a portion of the proceeds from everything sold is donated to that charity. Vela Girls Night Out events have raised funds for several local charities including the American Heart Association, Any Baby Can, CASA, ChildSafe, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Dress for Success, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure San Antonio and The Arc of San Antonio.
The folks who run both Paloma Blanca Mexican Cuisine and Vela at Paloma Blanca strongly believe in giving back, helping make our community a better place to live, one Girls Night Out at a time.

Anne… thanks for always including me in the GNO events… they are a lovely way to support the community (and get in a little shopping & socializing, too)…
I agree with you completely – San Antonio is a loving, giving, “tight hugs” kind of community. I love calling it my home.
