$500,000 CHECK TO RONALD McDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES
Gift Underscores McDonald’s Commitment to Central Texas and the local community
AUSTIN, TX – June 3, 2009 – The McDonald’s Central Texas Co-Op of Owner Operators will present a $500,000 check to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin and Central Texas on Wednesday, June 3, at 11 a.m. The check presentation will take place at the Ronald McDonald House located in Austin at 1315 Barbara Jordan.
This donation represents McDonald’s support of the Ronald McDonald House and its efforts to provide lodging and support services to families or critically ill or injured children who receive treatment at Austin-area medical centers.
“The Central Texas McDonald’s are proud to continue our support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin and Central Texas,” said Dan Kinney, President of the Central Texas McDonald’s Co-Op. “The donation encompasses of our building pledge, and our support of the annual Lights of Love event, World Children’s Day and Share the Love initiatives.”
Austin’s Ronald McDonald House currently provides lodging and support services to over 700 families annually. The Austin House is located in the Mueller Development and is 150 yards from the Dell Children’s Medical Center. In the years since it opened its doors, the Austin House has served thousands of families. Although families are asked to contribute $10 per family per night, no one has ever been turned away because of an inability to pay.
The Austin Ronald McDonald House is not owned by the McDonald’s Corporation nor by any hospital or health care organization. Funding to sustain the Ronald McDonald House of Austin and Central Texas comes from individual and corporate donors, community organizations, and special events. Approximately 10% of the annual operating budget comes from McDonald’s Corporation and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
