Your Web site is probably one of the single most important and accessible channels you have to reach your customers effectively. At a fraction of the cost of traditional media, such as print and broadcast, you are able to get your message across easily and quickly. Are you doing all that you can to keep it fresh? Is your Web site sticky enough that it generates repeat visits with longer sessions? Or do you have a lot of first-time visitors who leave or “bounce” after 30 seconds?
The key to keeping your Web site relevant is fresh content. You don’t need to update all of your content daily. But, you do need to make sure that parts of your Web site are dynamic. Link to other resources that your visitors may find interesting and appropriate. And, have those resources link bank to you as well.
Add on a social media component to your Web site. Even if you just pick one, be diligent about sticking to it. You could start a blog or even a Facebook page. You can also add widgets to specific pages to push pertinent information onto your site from third parties.
The objective is to find ways to keep your customers and prospects coming back for more; to generate quality traffic. The goal is to provide information that is relevant — for you and your customers — to make an impact on your bottom line.
Keep it simple. Keep it fresh. Peace out.
