It’s not every day that one gets to be a part of the moments that make history books. This weekend was the culmination of 12 years of work for the San Antonio River Improvements Project. Yet, culmination is not the right term because the opening of the Museum Reach extension of the San Antonio River is only the beginning of this story. And if you picked up the newspaper, watched the news or searched the Web and social networks you may have stumbled upon pieces of this story being told in unique ways and from unique perspectives. The intersection of new and traditional media was an historic event in and of itself. From full-page spreads in the paper and exclusive segments on local TV to beautiful images uploaded to Flickr and 140-character tweets – the media and the public have already collaborated on the first pages of what will be a new chapter for San Antonio.
This has been an amazing experience for the KGBTexas team and our thanks go out to the San Antonio River Authority for giving us more River to enjoy and be proud of and for allowing us be a part of this monumental project.
Many of you have done an incredible job at capturing the essence of the new extension of our River and we have been reading, watching and listening. This is not a list of links (OK, it is) but rather, the first thing we can do to give you credit for telling this story and helping San Antonio and the world rediscover what has been part of our city’s own essence for nearly 70 years.
If we have missed something please forgive us. Feel free to add a link to your story in our comments, share on the San Antonio River Authority on their Facebook Page, post to Twitter using the #sariver hashtag or upload to Flickr with the ’sariver’ tag.
Thank you ALL!
