Richard Laermer is such a smart-aleck. And that’s why you should read him, especially if you’re in PR. He hits you in the face with what you need to hear.
The tweet above went out Monday and just really struck a chord. We are all SO busy. We’ve got 900 things going on each day. It’s amazing that we get anything done. But some things you have to do. Do you have to do them all? What are you letting slip through the cracks? What does that ultimately cost you?
A couple of weeks ago, marketing guru Seth Godin wrote a very short post about having room in your schedule for innovation or the brilliant idea. You’d make time for an emergency, so why not make time for creativity?
I ask why you don’t make time for developing good habits? If you’re going to be involved in social media, make some time to Tweet. Make time to update your agency’s Facebook page. Make time to write a blog post.
If you can’t do it for yourself, how can you do it for anyone else?

I completely agree. About a month ago back I was able to go to a PRSA event here in San Antonio. While my schedule was swamped, it was the perfect opportunity to get out of the office and spend almost an hour solely thinking about ways to pitch my clients. There are very few times when it is easy to just sit back and think, but it is SO important. Sometimes you need to step away from your computer and just think.
